Dreams are what ruins made of

We could’ve started ambitious. But at one point in life, we stopped living life and we just let life passes through us.

Second by second turns minute by minute turns hour by hour turns day by day turn year by year.

And it hit us: “What happened?” It didn’t hit us all of sudden, but it hit us in waves — it hit then it subsided, out of rhythm, pushed us to out of the course. Then all of sudden, everything is okay.

But we know… We definitely know it is not okay.

We know that sometimes life is so hard to be lived up to expectations. It is exhausting to always compete with others — or even with our past selves — or to persuade ourselves why we can’t be the best version of ourselves.

The thoughts… just the thought, is quite exhausting, isn’t it?

But to plateau is hardly what we go for. The thought of being stuck, immovable and unmoved by anything is way worse. Sometimes to be removed from that situation, felt better than being unable to be moved by anything. It is innate in our existence that the unknown and uncertainty are much better than the darkness of being unmovable by anything.

So why are we scared of these uncertainty in life? It is mostly the past and present are what haunting us, but they make the future the boogeyman. As time passes, more and more dreams were destined to be buried, deep, sometimes beyond reach.

Probably dreams are really what ruins made of. But on ruins, we can build another.

On ruins, we can look up and dream of another. As long as we breathe, with whatever remains of us, we shall build another.
