A Peak into Those whom You Used to Know

In 2013, I have decided to delete my Facebook app. I thought it was too toxic and I like my bubble. So I lived in my bubble for so long, stripping me off the bane of comparison. After a decade I decided to reinstall Facebook in my device and I…

Dreams are what ruins made of

We could’ve started ambitious. But at one point in life, we stopped living life and we just let life passes through us. Second by second turns minute by minute turns hour by hour turns day by day turn year by year. And it hit us: “What happened?” It didn’t hit…

of Duties

I was told, that life is a series of duties strung together — with a loose tie at the end. Just because you do not see it, does not mean it is not coming. I was told, as the eldest son, as a son, as a student, as a follower…

5 Signs I, Too, was an Annoying Brat

I hated when attention was not on me. Who cry, annoyingly, when it’s their sister’s birthday? Who cried before the family is going for a major road trip then nap in the car as if to dissolve all the annoyance he caused? I lied so I can get my present faster – but like all lies, they don’t fell through the crack but branch to prominence I cried every time I feel embarrassed. I sometimes play with my other siblings’ toys like it’s mine

Habitual Experimentation (day #1–5)

I have tried, again and again, to lose weight. Mostly because I am short and being in the heavier side will definitely make me shorter. So for the past 5 years I have tried many. Cutting sugar I started to stop drinking coffee with condensed milk…

Sometimes…

less about me, and more about others. I have been in many circumstances that I shy away from interactions because I think it should not be that way. I tend to run away from recognition, or even appreciation because most of the times I fell short of my target and it is easy to make myself the target of the target. Sooner, I became detached. I despised awards, I even despised my own birthday, up to a point. Because I think I don’t deserve them.

three things that make me happy

Objectively three things make me happy. — coffee, books and money. But coffee sometimes makes me spend more than I should. Or makes my sleep harder. Books sometimes make me frustrated when I cannot finish it. Or when I found it boring. Money makes me happy. But it also makes me want to spend more, which will then make me unhappy Being happy is such an overrated feeling. It is an overstatement — especially when that chemical explosion you feel just makes you feel so bad later. When the high is too high, the fall is going to be epic too.

That social expectation

This article is a tribute to those things that we cannot control but we choose to be in content with them. You know when you were younger, you’d be perplexed why some older people just don’t get married? Now I am older, and hopefully wiser, I gain some perspective on…

An Old Town (but no coffee :/)

This weekend I had the opportunity to visit my Dad’s hometown, Taiping. Famous for its scenic lake garden and its amiability towards ageing population, the town itself is steep in history.

the aftermath

Have you realized, that for most of our lives, we were pitted against each other? We are taught, by our education system indirectly, if not directly, that to be successful you must be better than others. Smarter. Faster. More. More. More. Every term in school, we were ranked against each…
